Situation
Auchineden Farmhouse and Dairy Cottage are located in pretty countryside within the near 2000 acre Auchineden Estate, about 6 miles to the north of Milngavie on the A809. Within the estate there is a collection of 11 residential properties and businesses that form a small, safe rural community at Auchineden.

Strathblane and Blanefield (4 miles) are the conjoined commuter village set in rural Stirlingshire close to Glasgow. Both offer excellent everyday facilities including a friendly local pub, hotel, well stocked convenience shops and a boutique style delicatessen. Auchineden Farmhouse and Dairy Cottage are within the Killearn Primary School catchment area.

The suburban towns of Bearsden and Milngavie are only about 6 miles to the south of Auchineden where one can find a broader selection of amenities, including a Marks and Spencer food hall, Tesco superstore and new Waitrose store. There are banks, a post office, bars and restaurants along with main line train stations with regular and direct services to Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The cosmopolitan and trendy West End of Glasgow, as well as the city centre, can be reached by car via the A809 (in normal driving conditions) in around twenty five to thirty minutes respectively. Glasgow city has all the cultural, higher educational and leisure services normally associated with a major international centre. Glasgow airport is about 15 miles to the west from where there are regular domestic and international flights.

The surrounding countryside is some of the prettiest in central Scotland. The area backdrop is dominated by the Campsie Hills which are just to the east.

To the north and west of Auchineden is the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park which is a protected area of great natural scenic beauty. The entire park area offers extensive leisure facilities with beautiful rural and woodland walks, miles of cycle tracks and as with most parts of Scotland, one is never too far away from a golf course and Auchineden is no exception with Hilton Park, Buchanan Castle at Drymen, Milngavie and Clober.

For anglers, Loch Lomond and some of the surrounding rivers offer both coarse and game fishing by permit. The River Endrick has good mid and end season runs of salmon.

Loch Lomond offers inland sailing and motor cruising, while the Firth of Clyde has excellent chandlery and marina services as well as some of the UK’s most scenic and enjoyable coastal sailing.
