Dunlop has a primary school and Stewarton has a secondary school. Dunlop village has a
post office/general store and newsagents for everyday provisions, and a pleasant village public house and hotel. At Stewarton there is a more extensive range of shops and amenities that include a Sainsbury supermarket. The Ayrshire town of Kilmarnock is situated about 8.5 miles further south.

As with much of Scotland, one is never too far from a golf course and 20A The Fieldings is no exception with Ayrshire having one of the highest concentrations of local inland parkland courses and some of the internationally renowned links courses at the coast. The area is well served by outdoor and country pursuits with numerous local fishing, equine, shooting and stalking opportunities.

Leave Glasgow on the M8 motorway travelling in a westerly direction, after about 2 miles bear left onto the M77.
