Jelliston Cottage is situated amid soft rolling Ayrshire countryside about 5 miles to the east of the centre of the Ayrshire capital town of Ayr.
The A77 arterial route is about 3 miles to the west of the house which provides swift ease of access to Ayr and Glasgow city centre. Ayrshire has excellent local services with supermarkets in Troon, Prestwick and Ayr together with a range of high street multiples.
Glasgow City is 38 miles to the north east and as with most major cities has a full range of retail centres, professional, leisure and cultural facilities.
There are international airports at both Prestwick (10 miles) and Glasgow (43 miles).
Troon, Prestwick and Ayr have excellent local schools at both primary and secondary levels and the nearest independent school is Wellington in Ayr. Some of the children of the district attend the independent day schools in Glasgow to which there are frequent main line rail services.
Troon and Prestwick are well-known west of Scotland Ayrshire towns and are probably most famous for their Championship Golf Courses, Royal Troon, where the Open Golf Championship has been held no less than 8 times. The local shops have always attracted people to the area and the towns are well served by friendly local pubs, restaurants and hotels. Sporting activities are wide and varied, inevitably golf features with the Royal Troon Golf Club as well as many other private and municipal courses to hand. Prestwick Golf Club (where the Open was first played), is only about 8.5 miles to the south. Troon has a popular yachting marina together with associated chandlery services.
Ayr and Prestwick have indoor swimming pools and one of the largest indoor bowling stadiums in Europe as well as excellent tennis and leisure clubs with indoor and outdoor courts.
For travel, A77/M77 provides swift commuting to Ayr, Glasgow and surrounding districts. Ayr also has a mainline railway with connecting bus links with a regular service running to and from Glasgow city.
From Glasgow city proceed west on the M8 Motorway. Take the first junction onto the M77 motorway. Proceed on the M77 to merge with the A77. After approximately 35 miles take the first exit at the roundabout onto the A713. Continue for 2.3 miles and then turn left onto the B742. Continue for 1 mile and Jelliston Cottage can be found situated on the right hand side.
